Color – Stone Lion and Tiki Hut

Stone Lion and Tiki Hut

Shay’s house needed to be painted. She liked the builders design of Stone Lion on the body of the house and the Tiki Hut on the trim.

Being a newer home she didn’t like that the paint was already chalking and the house was only painted with one coat.

I caulked every nail, whether it was recessed or not. The recessed nails holes absolutely need to be filled to mitigate water from getting through.

The nails that were flush, I did an additional layer of film for protection and it leaves a better esthetic look after painted.

No nails visible. I use Shermax Urethanised Elastomeric sealant because it expands and contracts 25% both ways unlike most other sealers with far less stretch.

Unfortunately, the wood trim was never primed and the paint was no longer adhering to the trim. It came off in sheets! This is something I come across far to often and is a problem in the new build industry today.

I used an oil exterior wood primer on the exposed wood and coated the whole house with two coats of Sherwin Williams exterior paint on the body of the house and the trim.

The deck is scheduled to be finished next summer with Sherwin Williams Super deck stain. Tiki Hut will be the color used, same as the house trim, tying the house and deck together in the same design.
